Just off the main road into Datça and only 5 minutes from town, this is a 350 year old windmill converted into a restaurant.
They’re open all year round for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The spacious garden area is capable of holding even the largest of functions and often does. This is a popular place so reservations are required for dinner during the summer.
Parties come and combine a history lesson with a meal; the owners are fluent in English and will be happy to show you how it all works! The reasonably priced menu hosts a whole list of specials put together by the owner and chef, Zeynep HanIm. Expect the unexpected when you ask about what’s on for today, this is cosmopolitan eating in a rural setting. Having said that, they produce homemade jams and pickles that are big favourites.
It’s all on one level and there are no steps down from the road, just a gentle slope so wheelchairs are easily manoeuvred. There’s a children’s menu with high chairs available plus there’s room in the children’s garden to run around. Special dietary needs are catered for with a broad vegetarian selection and they regularly deal with diabetic guests. Background music is selected according to the guests and favours Greek and Turkish folk music with a selection of 60s and 70s pop (I detect a love of Motown). They accept TL, credit cards or major currencies.
