Housed in what was once an olive press (that’s what yaghane means in Turkish), the 7-roomed house is a calm, intimate place in Old Datca, itself a quiet cobbled village perched above the sea.
The village is just a few minutes’ drive from Datca town with its relaxed harbours, seafront, shops, and ferries plus a host of inviting cafes, bars and restaurants grilling fish fresh from the boats in the harbour.
A building full of character, the house has enough stairs to make it unsuitable for wheelchair users, but everybody else will love it. There is an upstairs terrace and a spacious quiet garden. Accommodation terms are either half-board or bed and breakfast; either way the food is healthy and, on the whole, locally produced. The cuisine leans towards a vegetarian mix of Mediterranean, Asian and Turkish home cooking. Meals are usually taken around a communal table, but for those wishing more privacy there are small tables dotted around.
The owner, apart from being a delightful lady, speaks excellent English and some Spanish too so communications are not a problem. Payments in Turkish lira, other hard currencies and credit cards are all accepted.
The pension has an alter ego as a yoga and relaxation centre; see the ‘Surya Yoga’ page for more details.
