Managed by Cetibeli locals for the past 30 years, the family-run restaurant never changed hands in this time.
Serving typically Turkish cuisine with mezes (appetizers), a refrigerated display case tempts you to over order, so be careful to leave room for the good selection of main courses. Ask about their specialities, lamb tandir (tandir is a clay-lined pit oven) or sac kavurma (meat cooked on a metal sheet over a fire); you can even choose your own trout (alabalik). Caglayan Restaurant is informal in atmosphere and often frequented by families who can let the kids go and frolic in the playground.
A man-made stream runs around the shaded eating area and feeds a pool in the centre; here’s where you can either feed or choose your fish!
Open every day from 6 AM till midnight, the service is good and the number of experienced serving staff adequate. The car park is close enough to see but not intrusive for diners, and vehicle security is no problem as you are right next to the Cetibeli gendarmerie station! In winter the upstairs dining room would be difficult for those not able to cope with stairs.
At about 17 kilometres from Marmaris town centre, it’s only a 15-minute drive for a delicious outdoor meal.
